Cooper's Halloween advice to fans, canine and human

10.11.11
First of all, I don’t snore. That must be Bella! I know Halloween is just around the corner, and I can’t wait! Is anyone else excited out there? I love dressing up, but I’m not sure what I'm going to be this year. Any suggestions??? Is anyone else still trying to decide on a costume?

Halloween is one of my favorite times of year, mostly because I love treats! That part of the book Cooper and Me and the First Halloween is absolutely true! I especially love the dog treats with peanut butter. There are some rules around my house at Halloween, and these are good ones for any dog. First, no chocolate for us. Chocolate is bad for dogs. So are candy wrappers (go figure!), so don’t leave those around for us to eat, either. We find wrappers so tempting because they smell so good. It’s best to stick to dog treats for dogs, although I know some dogs just love a good human treat (did I mention I love peanut butter?).

Also, some dogs don’t love Halloween the way I do. One of my good friends gets frightened when he sees people dressed up in costumes, especially the scary ones with masks. Another dog friend of mine doesn’t like getting dressed up in a costume. It just depends on the dog, and you should do what makes your dog comfortable on this day.

For me, the best part is trick-or-treating with my family and seeing all the other kids in their costumes. Who knows, maybe I will even make some new friends, too! I always look forward to the adventures Alexa takes me on, and I hope you enjoy them, too!
